Call me crazy, but I’m just not loving the Lindsay Lohan-turned-Marilyn-Monroe nude pics featured in the current issue of New York magazine.

She’s, what, 21 years old, portraying a 36-year-old famous drunk/drug addict who died of an overdose six weeks after the original photo shoot took place in 1962?
All sorts of media critics have lavished praise on the recreation of that shoot, which strikes me as screaming between the lines, “Good job, Linds! You look just as rode hard and put up wet as Marilyn did!” Yep, saggy flesh and all.

Myself, I can’t understand why this is something to glorify. Especially considering that we’ve all seen more of Lindsay’s private body parts the paps have managed to snap during her drunken escapades over the last couple of years than we care to remember.

And for her mother, Dina, to be quoted as saying:

“It was very tastefully done…I looked at it as art, and as Lindsay doing a character. So I don’t look at them (the photos) like it’s Playboy; she was being a character. So if you look at it that way, you can look at it as a mother.”

Tastefully done? Sure, Dina…if your daughter’s only hope for staying in the spotlight involves emulating an aging Hollywood drug addict busy pushing up daisies.
Chances are it isn’t hard to look at it “that way” as a mother either, when the family checkbook only gets fatter and fatter from such blatant exploitation of a famous daughter who clearly has more than enough problems of her own.
